The Film

On the Basis of Sex stars Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer who tell the story of young Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a passionate lawyer who dedicates herself to ending gender discrimination.

In cinemas on the 7th of Feb, the team at SheStarts are looking forward to this film as it’s an inspiring true story of a woman breaking down barriers and paving the way for more women to step into leadership positions.

And we’re excited to run a competition that encourages acknowledgement of inspiring women, all for the chance to win one of 10 double passes to see the film!

On the Basis of Sex

Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer star in On the Basis of Sex, the inspiring true story of a young Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a passionate lawyer who dedicates herself to ending gender discrimination when she takes on a ground-breaking case in 1975.

At the heart of Ruth’s journey is a moving romance with her husband Marty (Hammer), her greatest ally in a partnership built on love and equality. Now an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Ruth has become an international icon. See where her story began in this stirring, heartfelt drama.

Directed by Mimi Leder (The Leftovers) and starring Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name), Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), Kathy Bates (Misery), Sam Waterson (Law & Order) and Cailee Spaeny (Pacific Rim: Uprising).

Or you can post your own picture and tag SheStarts and use the hashtag #SheStarts to let us know who you find inspiring! If you do tag us, please make sure your post is public.

We’ll be posting often on our Instagram as well as Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. You can comment on any post after Wednesday the 22nd of Jan and before 5pm Sunday the 3rd of Feb.

What do I get?

One double access pass to any screening* of the film On the Basis of Sex.

*These tickets are valid at all participating Australian cinemas (with No Free Ticket listings, but except for public holidays, Saturdays after 5pm and cheap Tuesdays).

Who can enter?

Because we want to inspire more women to follow their dreams, step into leadership roles and become inspiring women in business themselves, we’ll be giving passes to women or girls who share who inspires them with us. We encourage all people to apply and contribute to the conversation about inspiring women in business.

Who is running the competition?

SheStarts is running this competition with double passes kindly provided by eOne.

How will the winners be selected?

The SheStarts team will choose the 10 most inspiring stories. You can enter once a day.

How long will the competition run?

The competition will run from 8am Wednesday the 23rd of January to 5pm Sunday the 3rd of February. We will contact the winners and send the double passes to them in the post.
